Iowa Conservation Farmer of the Year, Dan Voss

Feb 20, 2024

Iowa Conservation Farmer of the Year, Dan Voss, was recognized last week in Clearwater, Florida, at Truterra’s annual Partners in Excellent Summit.

Dan Voss received the award last August but has been implementing conservation practices on his acres for over three decades. Dan plants cover crops on 100% of his acres, practices no till/strip till, strategically places water ways and buffer strips, and is in the process or currently has denitrifying bioreactors or saturated buffers on the edge of his fields to reduce nutrient runoff. Linn Coop has been a partner and advisor to Dan over the years. Enrolling Dan in Truterra’s Carbon and sustainability program has given extra support and encouragement that has provided additional financial benefits though Linn Coop’s partnership. Dan has seen the agronomic and environmental benefits of his conservation practices on his acres. Having Linn Coop and Truterra to assist in recommendations and alternative programs has provided many benefits in achieving his goals. Dan encourages others to add cover crops, reducing tillage, and edge of field practices to sustain the future of agriculture with a focus on the betterment of society.
